About DISC
For disabled people and their carers.
If you're disabled, or a carer of a disabled person, you may prefer
to talk to someone who is themselves disabled.
Preston DISC is run and controlled by disabled people who are trained
to provide information.
They understand that you need time to talk about your information needs
- they won't fob you off - they'll ensure that you have all the information
you need, however long it takes.
Do you sometimes feel that you would like to talk to someone who is
independent of other information providers you have dealings with, such
as the Benefits Agency, Social Services etc?
All these organisations are experts in their fields - but Preston DISC
is totally independent.
There is no charge for information or advice - the service is FREE!
All enquiries are dealt with in the strictest confidence. You can call
into the service or make an appointment to see someone privately if
you prefer.
The service operates from Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm and an answerphone
is in operation out of these hours.
DISC is always looking for disabled volunteers and people with personal
experience of disability to assist in the running of the organisation.
Training will be given in the skills needed to work in the information
service. If you would like more information, please contact Melanie
Close, Manager, on telephone 01772 558863.
