Benefits For disabled people and their carers.

ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE

You can claim if:

You are over 65 AND
You find it difficult to take care of yourself due to your physical or mental condition AND
You have been like this for the past six months or so

You also have to show that your difficulties are likely to last for at least six months from the date you claim.

Advantages:

Paid on top of other benefits, income or savings
Tax-free, not means tested
You can spend the money in a way that suits you
You do not have to pay a carer to look after you
If you get Attendance Allowance, you may also get extra Income Support, income-based Job Seekers Allowance, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit or you could get them for the first time
You cannot get extra Attendance Allowance for help with getting around
