bullet point DISC News bullet point For disabled people and their carers bullet point

bullet point On 5th August 2002, the Disc Manager and Chairperson met HRH Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip on their visit to Preston. They were invited to a special reception for 1000 people from across Lancashire. The Queen was very interested in the work of Disc and it was a special occasion and a good opportunity to spread the word about the good work done at Disc.

bullet point In July 2002, Disc started a Women's group for women with disabilities. The group meets on a fornightly basis at Disc, is free of charge and transport is provided. The aim of the group is to improve key skills and confidence through various activities such as aromatherapy, arts, crafts etc. Contact Disc if you require more information on this group.

bullet point In November 2002, following the success of the Women's group, we will be starting a Men's Health group. The aim will be to bring together disabled men who are isolated to gain new skills and confidence, and health information, in a supportive environment. Again the group will meet fortnightly, is free of charge and transport is provided.

bullet point The member of parliament for Preston, Mark Hendricks, holds regular surgeries at Disc. To contact him on this, or any other matter, visit www.prestonmp.co.uk
